How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when trying to carry out tasks which would have otherwise required utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right alternative for completing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated in the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger can potentially happen.
