Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE in Racine, when he began the building of threshing machines. Later the business gained recognition internationally as the initial maker of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the company grew to become the largest producers of steam engines within the world.
By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction equipment business. The rapidly started to produce road building machines such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machine business through different acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading manufacturer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland in the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for marketing several of the world's top brands of agricultural and construction equipment.
