The lift truck is an important piece of machinery in most companies that operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial facilities. This great machinery, the lift truck is constructed of numerous parts, like the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Forklifts generally have various kinds of attachments too. The following are several of the most important forklift parts.
Forklift Engine - the forklift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the equipment. Different kinds of lift trucks have various kinds of engine that require varying power sources. Like for instance, a lift truck with an IC engine could have any of the following as its source of power: CNG gas, LP gas, gasoline or diesel. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Truck Frame - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most vital of all the forklift components. This forms the core of the equipment. All other components of a forklift are attached to the base, including the wheels, axles, mast overhead guard and counterweight. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks can also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Components - While lifting heavy loads, the counterweight allows the machinery to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the rear of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift offers balance and may function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Some lift trucks have a cab area that is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are really numerous components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important parts like the levers, switches, steering wheel, operator controls, seats and pedals. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
