Telescoping Boom Lifts

Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually used for jobs which need tasks to be done at heights that exceed other kinds of lifts. Like for instance, workers are able to carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but using these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.



The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suitable to particular tasks like for instance electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are available with both indoor and outdoor tires.



Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces beneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Since these kinds of equipment must be directly positioned below the work location, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.



The scissor lift normally has a larger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for cladding or window installation, as they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.



Boom Trucks vs. Cranes

The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle often used to raise personnel for various jobs performed at heights. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand along with a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.



Boom trucks take personnel to heights which would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one location to another. There are different types of cranes that can carry out a variety of purposes.
