Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an important tool in industry and commercial businesses since the year 1917. Throughout its history the forklift has changed through various forms, from a simple tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also changed into particular tires, with different types designed to suit specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of solid polyurethane or rubber and is suitable for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for various load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are normally used in warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They come in two kinds: bias or radial. Depending upon the application, they come with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are usually used outdoors on uneven, rough surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires provide together with the puncture resistance which solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Big rubber tires, which could either be solid, pneumatic or foam, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These kinds of tires are best for transporting and loading bulk objects into processing machines or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts usually utilized at lumberyards, construction locations and automobile recyclers.
