Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are one of the most frequently utilized types of crane in the construction industry. They are used to build everything from skyscrapers and buildings to freeway overpasses and roadways.
Cranes come in a wide range of units, styles and sizes. These different models enable both the operators and owners to execute many more functions in their business. Choosing the right type of crane is really crucial for making sure that the material could be transported efficiently and safely to the place it has to get to in order for the construction process to start.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes would typically have 2 different cabs. One cab is used to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whereas the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are extremely useful for building sites where a crane is required in many different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being easily driven from one place to another.
Cranes can also be transported to different construction sites on the road as they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly lessens transport costs at the end of the day.
One drawback of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads that a hydraulic crane can handle. Hence, to be able to fix this problem, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers use hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has huge tracks on the bottom of the crane. These massive tracks are really like bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks allow the crane to move around a construction site successfully.
